My research focuses broadly on the interplay between motivation, emotion, and social cognition and is guided by evolutionary and social cognitive perspectives. Specific research areas include: close relationships (e.g., romantic attraction and the maintenance of long-term relationships), power and dominance, social affiliation and rejection, and self-protective processes. Our recent work has focused on identifying endocrinological factors underlying adaptive social processes.
